Alice in Wonderland: Through the Shadows (2025)
“Down the rabbit hole… deeper than ever before.”

A bold reimagining of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, Alice in Wonderland: Through the Shadows brings a darker, more surreal edge to the beloved fantasy — blending gothic visuals, psychological mystery, and dreamlike world-building into a cinematic experience like no other.

Mia Goth stars as a grown-up Alice, now a withdrawn young woman plagued by fragmented memories of a childhood fantasy she can’t quite explain. After returning to her family estate in rural England, she’s pulled back into Wonderland — but it’s no longer a place of whimsy. Twisted by time and ruled by a corrupt, grief-stricken Mad Hatter (played brilliantly by Tom Hiddleston), this Wonderland is cracked, decaying, and hungry for Alice’s return.

Directed by Guillermo del Toro, the film is a visual marvel: clockwork forests, chessboard cities collapsing into the sky, and grotesque versions of familiar faces like the Cheshire Cat (voiced by Tilda Swinton) and the Red Queen (Eva Green). But beneath the rich design lies a poignant story about memory, trauma, and reclaiming one’s identity.

This is not your childhood Alice. It’s haunting, emotionally layered, and occasionally terrifying — but it never loses its sense of wonder. With a powerful score by Alexandre Desplat and stunning cinematography, Alice in Wonderland: Through the Shadows is a brave, beautiful descent into the madness we all carry inside.

A future cult classic in the making — and one of the most daring fantasy films of the decade.
