Maleficent 3: Rise of the Dark Queen (2026)
“Every fairy tale has a final curse.”

Angelina Jolie returns in Maleficent 3: Rise of the Dark Queen, the most ambitious and emotionally charged chapter of Disney’s dark fantasy saga. Set years after the fragile peace between the Moors and the human kingdom, a shadowy alliance of warlords and rogue sorcerers threatens to tear the realms apart. At the center of the conflict is an ancient prophecy — one that foretells Maleficent’s transformation into the most powerful being in existence… or her destruction.

When Queen Aurora (Elle Fanning) is struck by a mysterious sleeping curse that not even Maleficent can break, the Dark Queen must forge uneasy alliances — including with her old rival Queen Ingrith (Michelle Pfeiffer) — and journey to the forbidden realm of the Nightspire. Along the way, she faces creatures older than magic, treacherous fae politics, and a haunting choice between saving Aurora or preserving the Moors.

Director Joachim Rønning doubles down on visual spectacle: towering obsidian castles, skies swirling with storm magic, and battle scenes that blend fairy-tale beauty with epic war intensity. Jolie commands the screen with regal power and aching vulnerability, while Fanning brings warmth and resilience to Aurora’s peril.

The film’s emotional core lies in Maleficent’s evolving identity — torn between her love for Aurora, her duty to her people, and the darkness she once embraced. The climax, a magical siege lit by emerald fire under a blood-red moon, is both breathtaking and heartbreaking.

Verdict: 9/10 — A spellbinding, visually dazzling finale that gives Maleficent’s story the grandeur and heart it deserves. Dark, beautiful, and unforgettable.
