Taboo Season 2 (2025) – Official Trailer Review
After years of silence and speculation, Taboo finally returns — and the official trailer for Season 2 makes one thing clear: James Delaney is not done yet. Tom Hardy is back in full, brooding force, and the next chapter of this gritty historical thriller looks darker, more twisted, and more politically dangerous than ever.

Set in 1817, the new season picks up with Delaney and his ragtag League of the Damned arriving in the lawless waters of the Azores, far from the grip of London — but not beyond the reach of enemies old and new. The trailer teases a brewing global conflict, as Delaney becomes entangled in a brutal three-way game of espionage between the Americans, the British Crown, and a powerful Portuguese trading cartel.
Hardy is as magnetic as ever, growling cryptic lines while wearing blood-soaked coats and silently staring down cannon barrels. But Season 2 seems to dig even deeper into his mysterious past. We see flashbacks of tribal rituals, haunting visions, and a shadowy figure referred to only as “The Architect.” New cast members include Rebecca Ferguson as a cunning diplomat with unclear motives, and Joseph Quinn as a fanatical preacher hunting Delaney under orders from the East India Company.
Visually, the trailer is pure cinematic poetry — grimy docks, moonlit sea battles, flickering oil lamps over maps marked with blood. The tone remains intense and mythic, balancing colonial politics, occult symbolism, and psychological warfare. And yes, the whispers, grunts, and unblinking stares are back in full force.
One chilling line stands out: “They think I’ve left London behind. I am London’s reckoning.”
If the trailer is any indication, Taboo Season 2 won’t just continue the story — it will expand the universe, deepen the madness, and cement the show as one of the most audacious and original dramas of its time. The devil is back. And he’s not alone.
